Four of the piles will have seven cards and the rest will have six. Start by placing the cards in eight piles. For example, the cards will be stacked K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A with other cards of identical suits. These sequences are based on suits and rank. Like Solitaire, the goal of the game is to stack cards into sequences. This means that nearly every game can be won as players can plan their moves ahead. The FreeCells can be used to store single cards.įreeCell is “open” in that the cards are dealt face up at the start of the game. “FreeCell” features four empty spaces, or cells, that are used for the temporary storage of cards. Instead of matching by suits, cards were matched by color, and thus Freecell was born.įreecell has been included with every popular Windows Operating system since 1995. In 1978, it was adapted for play on a computer. Eight Off then led to a variant called Bakers Off.
